Hollister Fire Department

A panel of leaders from area governments is recommending that the fire department should locate Fire Station No. 3 on Flynn Road near the county jail, the mayor confirmed Monday.
Mayor Ignacio Velazquez reported during Monday’s city council meeting that a fire committee comprised of government leaders from multiple agencies is making that recommendation for the next station’s location. That recommended location will be on Flynn Road, he said.
Velazquez noted that Flynn Road has “good access to Highway 25, the north part of the county and the east part of the county.”
Velazquez said Chief Mike O’Connor found a short-term solution as well – as officials might use an existing trailer near Flynn Road for fire department space. Velazquez hopes to get the “station up and running rather quickly.”
Hollister’s two current fire stations are downtown on Fifth Street and on Airline Highway at Union Road. The mayor did not discuss further details about a possible Fire Station No. 3, such as potential financial arrangements.
