HOLLISTER
Another minor earthquake hit the area Sunday, but this time it happened far from a location seven miles south of Tres Pinos that has been shaken quite a bit lately.
The magnitude-3.1 earthquake struck at 2:05 p.m. Sunday about three miles southeast of Aromas, four miles west of San Juan Bautista and 11 miles west of Hollister, according to the U.S. Geological Survey Web site.
In the past month, there had been more than a dozen earthquakes of magnitude-3.0 or higher along the San Andreas Fault in that area near Tres Pinos. It is unclear if Sunday’s temblor was on a different section of the same fault.
