The Monte Carlo night club and restaurant downtown has plans to close after opening about two and a half months ago at the former location of The Vault, the building owner confirmed today.

The Monte Carlo, at 452 San Benito St., has served as a night club on weekend nights and has hosted lunch and dinner throughout the week. The business also has locations in Mountain View and Seattle.

For its apparently brief stint, the Monte Carlo has replaced The Vault, which operated at the location under building and restaurant owner Ignacio Velazquez for a decade.

Velazquez confirmed the owners decided they were “moving on” because they believe they “didn’t get the support of the city.”
