San Benito County residents can expect this week’s series of showers to linger a bit Friday and Saturday before conditions dry out Sunday. But locals also can expect some more rain next week, though not as severe as the recent surge of storms.
Through Tuesday, there already had been more than two inches of rainfall at a monitoring station just outside of Hollister, according to forecaster Brian Tentinger with the National Weather Service office in Monterey. That doesn’t even include the storms from Wednesday’s morning and afternoon showers, because the readings came in after Pinnacle press time.
One reading available from Wednesday at Pinnacles National Monument, meanwhile, showed rain totals in that area at 0.97 inches for a 24-hour total reported at 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service Web site, bringing the total for the park to nearly three inches since the first storm in the recent wave began early Monday morning.
There is a good chance for the rain to return by Monday, Tentinger said, and rainy conditions should continue again throughout next week.
“Not like this week, but again, there are a couple systems coming in,” he said.
