Some of the small steps they suggest include choosing fruits and vegetables instead of sugary sweets at the grocery store; plant a fruit tree in the backyard; quit smoking or using other tobacco products; take an evening walk with the family; watch the NPHW 2010 video, “A Healthier America.”

The department will also be hosting free H1N1 vaccination clinics at San Benito Food Bank, 1133 San Felipe Road, April 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and at Hollister Super Market, 889 Fourth St., April 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All residents 6 months through seniors are eligible to receive the H1N1 vaccine, although this will be the last opportunity to obtain the H1N1 FluMist vaccine until the fall flu season.
