Hollister – The city’s newly re-formed Airport Advisory Commission will be holding its first meeting today.

Last year, the City Council voted to disband the commission, which advises the council on airport policy and planning. At the time, then-mayor Robert Scattini said the hiring of Airport Manager Bill Gere made the commission unnecessary.

However, a council sub-committee recommended bringing the commission back to life. Gordon Machado, the only commissioner whose term has not yet expired, will be joined by Hollister residents Fred Meyer, William Kuna, Charles Hall and Doug Hooton.

The commission will meet at 6:30pm in City Hall. On the agenda are a discussion of the commission’s bylaws and of how the commission can be expanded, particularly to include airport tenants who live outside the city.
