The San Benito County Free Library invites all county residents to join in celebrating the launch of the new bookmobile and Summer Reading Program Kick-Off 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the library at 470 Fifth St.

Festivities will begin with bookmobile tours, summer reading program registration and Silly Ricky’s Juggling Show. At 2:30 p.m., the bookmobile will have its official launch with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a reception featuring the artwork of Carlos Munoz, the graphic designer of the bookmobile’s exterior mural. Crafts for children and an ice cream social open to all will round out the afternoon program, according to a press release from the library.

Tuesday also marks the first day of the Library’s Annual Summer Reading Program. Children, pre-school through eighth grade, can register beginning at 2 p.m. for the “Be Creative @ the Library” Summer Reading Program. Children who complete their reading goal will receive a certificate, goodies bag, and paperback book. Teens entering grades sixth through 12 can register at the library or online for the ‘Express yourself @ the Library” Summer Reading Program. Teens who read four or more books, and complete an online review, will receive a gift certificate.
