Katherine Vais was sworn in as the new president of the San Benito County Chamber of Commerce at a dinner Dec. 5 at The Inn at Tres Pinos.

Joining Vais on the chamber’s board of directors for 2003 are Karen Para, vice president; Ruth Humber, secretary; Doug Herring, returning as treasurer; and directors Jack Hance, Kathy Johnson and Mark Vivian.

Loos presented outgoing directors with glass clock plaques engraved with their names and years of service.

Vais, who was vice president of the chamber under Loos, is president of Bishop Lusink Insurance and a 13-year veteran of the insurance industry. She is chairperson of the San Benito County Ambassadors and a member of the Lights On Celebration committee.

Para is a Realtor with Intero Real Estate, Humber is vice president of the Hollister branch of Union Bank of California and Herring is a Certified Public Accountant with Bianchi, Lorincz & Co. Hance is vice president of San Benito Bank, Johnson owns Kathy Z. Johnson & Associates and Vivian is an investment representative with Edward Jones & Associates in Hollister.
