Board, the One Stop Center and the Downtown Hollister Association
will premiere the video San Benito Now on June 29. The three-minute
video will be used to showcase the community, and attract
businesses and investments to the county and
city. The video will be shown at Premiere Cinemas, 641 McCray
St., in Hollister, in theater 8 at 5:45 p.m., 6 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.
Those who want to view the video can enter from the parking lot
through the theater exit door. Light refreshments will be
served.
The video will also be viewable online at
www.sanbenitonow.com.
Library closed for holiday

observance of Independence Day. It will resume operating hours July
6, from noon to 8 p.m. The library is open Monday through
Friday.

Vets dugout open again

HOLLISTER – All Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Ladies and men’s auxiliary, and their guests are welcome to stop by the dugout, which will reopen June 30. Applications for the organizations are also available in the dugout, which is located at the Veterans Memorial Building.

Wells Fargo celebrates Hollister grand opening

HOLLISTER – Wells Fargo celebrated the grand opening of its newest bank location in Hollister at 575 San Benito St., formerly Wachovia. The 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. celebration featured a performance by Second Wind Band, refreshments and live radio remote from KTOM-FM, as well as the Wells Fargo Stagecoach and Jack the Dog.

At 1:30 p.m., Wells Fargo staff members present ten area schools and nonprofits with grants totaling $30,000. Representatives from the Hollister School District, San Benito High School, Tres Pinos School District, CASA of San Benito, Community Solutions, Compassion Pregnancy, Kinship Center, Community Food Bank, Emmaus House and the YMCA were on hand to receive the checks.

Pinnacles National Monument Hosts Recovery Act Project public meeting

PINNACLES – Pinnacles National Monument is hosting a public meeting on July 9, at 10 a.m., at the Chaparral Picnic Area in the west district of Pinnacles National Monument, located 12 miles east of Soledad off Hwy. 146, to introduce Anderson Burton Construction, Inc. as the contractor who will design and construct the new visitor and operational facilities near the west entrance of Pinnacles National Monument.

The Public Meeting at the park is intended to discuss and view construction designs for the new west side facilities. This America Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funded project will relocate park facilities out of the sensitive riparian and flood-prone Chaparral Area. Staff from Pinnacles and Anderson Burton will be on hand to discuss the restoration of the Chaparral Area present the design for construction near the west entrance, and answer questions about this project and other park activities.

Project construction is expected to begin later this fall.

Fourth of July parade and fireworks set

HOLLISTER – The Annual Kiddie Parade will be held on July 4th (Sunday) beginning at 10 a.m. The Kiddie Parade will begin in the Commuter Parking Lot at Veterans Memorial Park on Memorial Drive and continue north on Memorial Drive to Marguerite Maze Middle School. A short program will be held at Marguerite Maze Middle School. Children of all ages are welcome to participate: walk, ride, roller skate or roller blade. All entrants will receive an American flag. The Kiddie Parade is presented by the 4th of July Celebration Committee and sponsored in part by the City of Hollister and the San Benito County Chamber of Commerce. (No dogs or motorized vehicles are permitted.)

The annual community fireworks display will take place on July 4th (Sunday) at dusk at the field adjacent to Marguerite Maze Middle School. The fireworks are a gift to the public from the 4th of July Celebration Committee and all of the local fireworks booths.
