With business owners like myself continuing to struggle to find ways to pay bills and make ends meet, it amazes me that some local politicians remain so out of touch with small business owners.

Hollister officials are following up on a complaint filed by former mayoral candidate Doug Emerson alleging four firefighter union members posed illegally while wearing city attire in a campaign mailer endorsing Mayor Ignacio Velazquez.

In recent years, a couple of national chains have expressed interest in opening at the Windmill Market shopping center off Highway 156 in San Juan Bautista. Shopping center owner Jim Gibson, though, hasn’t even bothered bringing the applicants before city council members for potential approval.

The San Benito County supervisors will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday, with the regular agenda including several items to be brought back for discussion from previous meetings.

San Benito County Board supervisors are set to review proposed amendments to the oil and gas well ordinance Tuesday.

The county transit agency is required to put together a long-term funding blueprint every four years. That “Regional Transportation Plan” includes forecasts for future needs and budgets, and officials with the Council of San Benito County Governments are now developing the 2014 document.

The Aromas Water District Board of Directors is set to meet Tuesday and consider voting on an agreement prepared by Caltrans related to the Highway 101 crossing at San Juan Road.

Hollister City Council members are set to meet Tuesday and will weigh an approval for the agreement with Worldwide Dynamics as manager of a 2013 motorcycle rally.

Hollister Councilman Victor Gomez has somewhere around 10,000 constituents here. This month, he also started looking out for the good of another 100,000 or so residents in San Jose while answering to another elected official there.

The San Benito County Parks and Recreation Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the San Benito County Board Chamber, 481 Fourth St.
