Vietnam wall evokes memories of ‘brother’ lost at war
Though they didn’t look like it, the San Benito County veteran and the Montana man were brothers. Not in the traditional sense of the word since Hollister resident Vince Luna was a self-described “little Mexican kid” and his friend, Mark Hinkle, hailed from the west and was blond and blue-eyed.

Adopt Sadie
Sadie is a 5-year-old gray and white shorthair who came to Pet Friends as a young cat with her sister Brandy. Brandy found a forever home, and now Sadie is hoping to be adopted. She is shy, but warms up with treats and would love the company of a male kitty friend to liven her spirits. If you would like to meet her, call (831) 634-1191 or visit PetFriends.org.
Adopt Tux
Tux came to Pet Friends with her buddy Flame last year as abandoned cats. Flame was adopted recently, and Tux should also have a home of her own. She is an adult cat (and eligible for the reduced adoption fee for adult cats), litter box trained and ready for a sunny spot on the floor of her new home. She is ok with the other cats here at Pet Friends, and seems to be non-aggressive with the other cats. Tux is moderately playful, and not an "Underfoot" kind of cat. She might be ok with dogs, and she did seem to adapt to the Pet Friends environment fairly quickly. She will come with her shots, and already spayed; all set for a happy life with a new family. If Tux seems like the cat for you, please call or visit Pet Friends to come see her. See our new website at http://www.petfriends.org/, or call us at 831-634-1191. If you'd like to just come by and help Tux (and other cats and dogs) pass the time waiting for their forever home. Pet Friends welcomes volunteers who would like to help socialize cats and dogs. Walking the dogs is always needed, and cats love to play with the people who visit. See our website for additional information on volunteering with Pet Friends.

‘Priscilla Queen of the Desert’: Creativity in another dimension
Creative, unique and inventive are understated adjectives when describing “Priscilla Queen Of The Desert.” The line “pushing the envelope” was made for this show, a production where the star is the award-winning costumes by Tim Chappel and Lizzy Gardiner and a bus, which comes onstage and helps an out-of-the-box story unfold. Written by Stephen Elliott and Allan Scott, directed by Simon Phillips and choreography by Ross Coleman, this jukebox musical uses pop songs as its score and romps through a story that has great humor and - at times - heart-wrenching moments.
