Girl Scouts reach for gold and silver

Local Girl Scouts were recently honored for community projects with Gold and Silver Awards from the organization, two of the highest honors they can receive for community service projects.

Council OKs contract for 2013 motorcycle rally

The Hollister City Council on Tuesday approved an agreement with a manager for the July revival of a downtown motorcycle rally.

As a kitten, Westley suffered for months with gastro-intestinal issues and had surgery to remove a portion of his colon. One year later, he is a much happier kitty. He still needs to be on a controlled diet. He is very loving, is used to being around dogs and would love to be in a home with another cat. Westley is at FOSMAS' adoption center at Petco Gilroy. 19-year-old Mary Church, who lost her sight to a condition called Norrie Disease when she was a baby, learns to tap dance by listening to the sound of her instructor Reta Rochelle's movements. Watch her dance and listen to her talk about her experience.
