Artists invited to grant workshop on Jan. 24

The Creative Work Fund invites artists and nonprofit organizations who are interested in applying for grants to an informational seminar Jan. 24, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Blak Sage Gallery, in Hollister.

Early flu season sweeps through U.S.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the U.S. is having an early flu season with most of the country experiencing high levels of influenza-like illness. Influenza and related complications are the eighth leading cause of death in the U.S. and are associated with up to 49,000 deaths and more than 200,000 hospitalizations each year in the U.S. The CDC recommends getting vaccinated to prevent the seasonal flu.

St. Luke’s celebrates 110 years

The sanctuary at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will be rededicated Jan. 25 at part of a 110 year anniversary at the local church. The Rt. Rev. Mary Gray-Reeves, the bishop of the Diocese of El Camino Real, will rededicate the sanctuary, which has recently been refurbished.
