OAKLAND
New Raiders coach Hue Jackson on Tuesday notified defensive coordinator John Marshall, offensive line coach Jim Michalczik, linebackers coach Mike Haluchak, passing game coordinator Ted Tollner and quarterbacks coach Paul Hackett that they won’t be retained.
Also, the Raiders confirmed the signing of Al Saunders as the replacement to Jackson as the team’s offensive coordinator. Saunders is a longtime NFL coach who interviewed for the Raiders head coaching job twice in recent years.
Michalczik is thought to be headed back to Cal as its offensive line coach, where he worked before he joined the Raiders in 2008.
Jackson was hired Jan. 17. He is in Mobile, Ala., along with several of his assistant coaches and team scouts, evaluating prospects playing in the Senior Bowl on Saturday.
Jackson interviewed former Raiders defensive backs coach and defensive coordinator Chuck Bresnahan for the vacancy created by the departure of Marshall, according to a league source.
Bresnahan was with the Raiders from 1998-2003 before joining the Cincinnati Bengals. He spent the past two years with the Florida Tuskers of the United Football League.
Jacksonville Jaguars defensive line coach Joe Cullen also is a candidate for the defensive coordinator spot, according to NFL Network.
