The City of Hollister released a list of candidates for the open District 4 council seat Monday morning.

The seat was left open when former Councilman Roy Sims stepped down in March, just mere months after he won the seat in November. Sims moved outside of his district and was forced to resign. He was elected to one of four council seats joining the mayor on the dais. The District 4 seat was the only contested council race outside of the mayoral race.

Candidates for the open seat include Jacob Aguirre, Tim Burns, Jim Gillio, Adolfo Gonzalez, David Huboi, Robert Marden, Marty Richman, Ashley Sand and William Woodall.

Some of the candidates are familiar to the council. Burns was the runner-up against Sims during last November’s election and is a former city employee. Huboi is on the city’s planning commission and previously ran for the seat. Marden is chairman of the Measure E oversight committee, while Sand sits on the Measure W oversight committee. Richman is a regular meeting attendee and previously ran for mayor.

The council will conduct interviews with the candidates at 4 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 375 Fifth St. The winner is expected to be announced when the regular meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. that night.

Look back for more on the candidates.
