While playing golf with a couple of my friends, I noticed they were struggling with their chip shots and putts not getting up to the hole. The harder they tried, the worse it got.
While I don’t like to fix something on the course during play, I couldn’t help myself on this occasion. So I suggested they increase the length of their backswing in order to generate enough clubhead speed to hit the shot properly. It worked for both of them.
Think in terms of a clock pendulum. The distance is equal on both sides of the swing. In their case, the backswing was too short and the follow-through was too long. Try to make both sides equal and let the clubhead accelerate through the shot.
