Letter: Integrity on the line at Hazel Hawkins

The views expressed in this piece are solely my own, informed by a substantial 38-year career in healthcare finance. Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital currently faces significant financial challenges, seen by many as some of its most daunting periods. It is crucial for the administration to...

Letter: Trees in county deserve protection

My husband and I own our home, and we have lived in Ridgemark for 10 years. On the golf course side of our back yard fence, there are three healthy, green trees that provide homes for song birds year round. One of these trees is an Eucalyptus that looks the same today as it did ten years ago when I started admiring it for it's unusual beauty. On Monday, October 13, I witnessed Alex Kehriotis in the passenger seat in a golf course vehicle with a white-haired man as his driver. I saw Alex direct this man to healthy trees on Gabilan, and the white-haired man would stop the vehicle, get out with a paint bucket and a paint brush, and he would mark the trees that Alex directed him to mark, with red paint X's. The Eucalyptus as well as one of the Monterey Pines has been marked with a red paint X for destruction. The TRO from Judge Tobias was in force on Oct. 13 when I witnessed this happen on Gabilan Golf Course. Alex Kehriotis is NOT an arborist.

Letter: Assemblyman thanks veterans

Last Tuesday, our nation honored and remembered brave men and women who have served our country in the armed forces or who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.  We should continue to recognize them year round and more importantly, continue to teach our younger generations about the importance of honoring our veterans from an early age.

Letter: Snow is right person to deal with a crisis

My name is Monty Stanley. Keith Snow worked for my companies for approximately 20 years. He managed day to day operations, for our disposal company. Keith had responsibilities of dealing with public officials on a ongoing basis. He also worked for one our other companies doing highway construction. I would like to formally endorse Keith Snow for mayor of Hollister. I feel he would be a great asset to the community due to the fact that above all, he is a VERY HONEST INDIVIDUAL. You could trust Keith Snow with the lives of your family and your last dollar – and when you came back it would still be there. He would not be your typical politician. He would not be the person to sit there and lie directly to your face. Keith Snow always believed that if you watch your pennies your dollars would watch themselves. With this new Ebola outbreak going on, Keith would be the perfect person to watch out for your families' well-being in this time of crisis in our country. He also has shared with us many ideas as to literally get a double bang for the buck in city expenditures. He often says that he can go to a Costco and negotiate a price down where the masses would be happy to pay price listed. It is common knowledge that the city's current staff does not shop for the best bang for the buck. Keith feels, when he was spending our companies money, he would protect it like it was his own.
