Letter: We can do a lot more
There are two topics I read about in the May 1 paper. One is by Dr. Anju Goel. And she mentioned that San Benito County is one of the counties with the most chlamydia in the state of California. This is horrible. We need to help the people, and educate them. They need somewhere to turn to and get the help they need to reach out to these kids and adults and teach them. You can put this in the paper, but are they going to treat the people and help them? Kids are at risk of getting this. Are they reaching out to the schools? Is something going to be done? They should do something about this, before they put it in the paper. Public safety means a lot to me. There are a lot of problems going on; I bet there are more problems than this.

Point-Counterpoint: Measure defined by fear-based arguments
BACKGROUND: The San Benito County Board of Supervisors passed Ordinance 918 at the June 18, 2013 meeting. This ordinance allows Project Indian to stimulate oil/gas well utilizing hydraulic fracturing (fracking) and other advanced processes. About a week later, the Center for Biological Diversity filed suit opposing Project Indian for an inadequate environment impact report. In July 2014, the court ruled in favor of the CBD.
