Lots of luck with school district consolidation
I thought I had given up writing letters to the editor, too much
Letter: Journey of 100 years for local Women’s Club
A group of women – many of whom could remember as children, attending the founding ceremony, in 1874, of a new county called San Benito, and, the incorporation of the City of Hollister, in 1868 – sign a newly formed Women's Club Charter.

Letter: Delighted about Clouds Rest
I am delighted at the success of Ron Erskine's group hike to Clouds Rest. It has been my great privilege to hike to Clouds Rest twice. I never attempted Half Dome, and have no regrets. Looking down on Half Dome and Yosemite Valley was unforgettable. I can think of no single vista in my 75 years that surpassed this one. I remember wandering through a marshy area (this was spring) and thinking we would never find the trail. GPS has probably solved that issue.
Letter: Latest No on Measure J ads disturbing
The latest television ads bought by the oil companies against Measure J really disturbed us. A man says he is an employee of a "local" oil business, speaks with an accent and claims that Measure J will leave him unemployed. But, according to the president of the local oil business Steve Coombs, of Patriot Resources, who described their oil recovery process to my husband and others at a meeting he attended; none of those practices that are currently being used would be banned by Measure J. Steve described needing to use acid to clean scale off an existing Class II injection well used for water flooding and waste water injection and to use acid to break up drilling mud in new well borers. These methods of acid used in well maintenance would not be banned by Measure J.
Letter: Columnist right about police state
Thank you Mr. Marty Richman. I feel we are moving toward a police state. They should be able to stop (subdue) a human without killing.
We should learn to accommodate growth
I am starting to see roadside posters reading NO ON G, and I'm
