Paul “P.J.” Galvan died Saturday, Dec. 6 as a result of an automobile accident. He was 18.

He was born in Portsmouth, Va. He came to Hollister with his family from Gilroy 11 years ago.

He graduated from San Benito High School where he played football and baseball and received all league honors in both sports. He was an honor roll student at San Benito High School and served on the student council as treasurer. He was a scholarship recipient at Gavilan College, where he was on the baseball team. He was in his first year at Gavilan.

He is survived by his parents Robert and Lorie Galvan of Hollister; brother and sister Bobby Galvan and Anissa Galvan, both of Hollister; grandparents Curt and Patsy VanNoy of Hollister, Paul Garcia of Hollister, Robert Galvan Sr. of Hollister and Terry Galvan of Gilroy; aunts and uncles and their spouses Lenita Garcia of Hollister, Aaron and Lisa Angulo of Hollister, Alfie and Veronica Galvan of Los Banos, Ruben Galvan of Gilroy, Carolyn and Dave Padilla of Ceres and Debbie and Al Morales of Gilroy.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 10 from from 5 to 5:30 p.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home and then from 6 to 9 p.m. at St. Benedict’s Church. A rosary and Mass will be at 7 p.m. at St. Benedict’s Church.

Cremation will follow the Mass with private family inurnment at St. Benedict’s Columbarium.
