Ryan A. Wiltse graduated from the Air Force basic military training with honors April 23, at Lackland Airforce Base in Texas.

While only 10 percent of those who enter training are eligible for honor graduate status, significantly fewer actually achieve the prestigious distinction.

A letter from the training staff said, “We applaud your accomplishments and the fact that you have demonstrated such superior commitment to our Air Force core values of Integrity First, Service before Self and Excellence in All We Do.”

Wiltse will continue to train as an airborne battle management systems apprentice. He will be trained to perform aircrew member duties as an airborne warning command and control systems operator. He will operate computerized airborne radar sensors, electronic countermeasures equipment, and maintain communications nets with ground, air and sea surface units, along with other duties.

Wiltse is a 2008 graduate of San Benito High School. He is the son of Robert and Val Wiltse, of Hollister, and grandson of Alden Wiltse, of Gilroy.
