Local couple announces engagement
HOLLISTER
– Mr. and Mrs. Fernando Gonzalez of Hollister, and Mr. and Mrs.
Joel French of Sacramento, announced the engagement of their
daughter, Jessica Nicole French, to Jason Skow, son of Ms. Alice
McKnight of Bitterwater and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Skow of Hollister.
The couple plans to marry June 14 at the F
irst Presbyterian Church in Hollister, with a reception
following at the Elks Lodge.

Rotary speech winners announced
HOLLISTER – Joey Mancino of Hollister recently won the annual Hollister Rotary Club speech contest.
Mancino was one of six students who gave five-minute talks focused on the theme “Rotary Shares,” incorporating the international organization’s “Four-Way Test.” The test asks members to guide their actions based upon four questions:
– Is it the truth?
– Is it fair to all concerned?
– Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
– Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
Also participating were Sam Doty, Danielle Burk, Natalie Gardner, Spencer McCorkle and Sean Petree.
The contest is intended to help young people understand the importance of speaking effectively before groups.
Local student makes Dean’s List
HOLLISTER – Hollister student Morgan O’Laughlin was recently named to the Dean’s List for Bentley College in Waltham, Mass. O’Laughlin, a freshman majoring in Undecide/Business, needed to maintain a grade point average of 3.3 or higher with no course grade below 2.0 during the term to make the list.
