Joey Negreann, Pinnacles intern

Interns make a difference through service to our planet and communities at Pinnacles National Park. Pinnacles host many interns each year. This year, one special intern was our Student Conservation Association’s Centennial Volunteer Ambassador, Joey Negreann.
Joey is part of a national program where 70 young people were selected to serve at national parks, historic sites, recreation areas and parkways throughout the United States to support volunteerism and service in the National Park Service. During his year of service, Joey has dedicated his time to expanding and developing Pinnacles community outreach and volunteer programs. He has hosted hundreds of volunteers young and old in meaningful volunteer projects at the park as well as connecting with numerous community leaders and organization in our gateway communities.
He has made friends and connections with local boy scouts, girl scouts, high school students, employees from local businesses, families and individuals. It is these connections that will create the next generation of park stewards and advocates. We are building the bridge to the future through inspiring people old and young to give of themselves through service and connect with the national park in their backyard.
When asked about his service at the park Joey said: “I like working with volunteers and creating service projects for the public. It feels great to drive home the wider goal of the National Park Service through the ‘call to action’ plan, helping to create the next generation of park stewards and increasing volunteerism on public lands.”
We invite you to join the movement. Come out to the park and volunteer for one of the monthly National Service Days: March 20, April 23-Earth Day, May 21- BioBlitz, June 4- National Trails Day, August 20, September 24- National Public Lands Day, October 22- Make a Difference Day.
