Paicines – National Park Week will end Saturday at Pinnacles National Monument with Junior Ranger Day.

The Junior Ranger Program is a way for children ages 5 to 13 to learn about and form a connection with National Parks, said Carl Brenner, the Pinnacles National Monument’s supervisor of interpretation and education. The Junior Ranger Day at the monument will feature talks about nature, book readings and hikes.

“It’s sort of a way to finish off National Park Week with a more family-oriented thing,” Brenner said.

Rangers and visitors will meet at the Bear Gulch Visitor Center to begin discussions at 10am. From 10:30am to 11am, there will be a walk for all ages to learn how the Pinnacles were formed.

Children will have a chance to complete the Pinnacles National Monument badge for their Ranger Book, which can be completed at other monuments and parks.
