Hollister police arrested two suspects and are seeking a third for the Easter shooting on Washington Street that sent a man to the hospital.
After identifying leads and making the two arrests, police also are looking for Larry Quiroz, 22, in the shooting.
According to the full statement from police:
Two suspects have been arrested in connection to the Easter Sunday shooting of a man in Hollister in the 800 block of Washington Street. Police are still looking for one more suspect wanted for his participation in the attempted murder.
Hollister Patrol Officers and Gang Officer worked delingently on developing leads in this investigation and were able to identify Blake Lopez (21), Roy Maldonado (19) and Larry Quiroz (22) as the suspects of this assault.
On April 24, 2014, San Benito County Sheriff’s Deputy Zander located one of the suspects and turned him over to the Hollister Police Department. Blake Lopez (21) was booked at the San Benito County Jail for attempted murder.
On May 9, 2014, about 10:45 pm, a concerned citizen called police to report gang activity in the 1200 block of Sherwood Drive. Officer Toribio arrived to investigate and recognized Roy Maldonado. Maldonado was arrested without incident. He was booked at the San Benito County Jail for attempted murder.
Police have been actively looking for the third suspect, Larry Quiroz (22) but he has not been located. A $950,000 arrest warrant has been issued for his arrest for attempted murder and other charges. Larry Quiroz is described as a Hispanic male 22 years old, brown hair, brown eyes, 6’ tall and 180 lbs.
The Hollister Police Deaprtment is asking for assistance from the community in locating Quiroz and reminds the community that he should be considered armed and dangerous. The Hollister Police Department requests that no citizen takes it upon themselves to apprehend Quiroz and encourages the community to contact the Police Department with information about his whereabouts.
This investigation was partially funded by the City of Hollister CALGRIP grant. This grant is not only a way for the Hollister Police Department to combat gang related incidents, but is also designed to educate the community and parents of children who may be susceptible to gang influence.
