The city council Monday is set to weigh making the code enforcement officer a full-time job.
In 2004, the council voted to make any enforcement of the code reliant on complaints from Hollister residents. In October of this year, the council voted to allow the current code enforcement officer, Mike Chambless, to once again proactively enforce the code rules. Chambless is also the airport manager and is scheduled to step down as part-time enforcement officer. The vote comes as council members have discussed a greater need for enforcement.
The council is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Hollister City Hall, 375 Fifth St.
Council members also are scheduled to consider a resolution accepting a contract with law firm L&G to provide city attorney services for the city. L&G previously has represented developer DMB with the El Rancho San Benito property, and has ties to other development and agriculture interests in the county.
The firm would replace current interim City Attorney Deborah Mall, who replaced City Attorney Stephanie Atigh after she had parted ways with the city back in December of last year.
