Park’s weeds get whacked after resident complains
A resident recently e-mailed the Pinnacle’s Public Works section showing weeds “as tall as the kids” behind the fence at the Calaveras Park ball field. City of Hollister’s Community Services Director Clay Lee this week said crews got out late last week to whack most of the weeds.
Lee noted how the weeds had grown around the back stop and fence line, with some in the infield area and in planters around the field as well. He said crews still had to remove weeds around the fence line, the perimeter of the park, and that it will be scheduled when school is out in June.
The city has a joint-use agreement with the Hollister School District for maintenance of the park next to Calaveras School. The district handles the mowing and irrigation, while the city handles the fields and planter areas.
