The Hollister City Council this week approved additional funding for the off-leash dog park planned for an area near the Hollister Municipal Airport. The council allocated a total of $45,000 to the project. That includes $25,000 already appropriated to get the work started.

The project, brought forward by the Hollister Dog Owners Group that has sought a permanent dog park for three years, includes work on the parking lot, fencing and requirements for the Americans with Disabilities Act, according to a staff report.

The funds also will go toward modifications to the existing parking lot to bring it into compliance with the city’s storm water master plan.

City officials expect to complete the next phase in mid-July.
