The Hwy. 25 bypass project through Hollister continues, but the project has progressed to the point that it gave Hollister back what may be its busiest intersection.

Airline Hwy. and Sunnyslope Road re-opened on Aug. 20, eliminating a circuitous detour route.

Thanks in part to cooperative weather, the entire bypass project is running a bit ahead of schedule, according to Mary Dinkuhn, transportation planning manager for the county Council of Governments, which coordinates the project.

“We’re talking about an October time frame if all goes well,” Dinkuhn said. The contractor officially has until Nov. 21 to complete the project on time.

The $51 million project is being completed by the Pavex division of Graniterock Co.

Further information about the project, including a video of the bypass route, is available by going to www.sanbenitocog.org.
