Construction workers installed the first third of the Hwy. 25 median divider Tuesday night in a weeklong nighttime effort. The whitewashed divider runs north a few miles from Shore Road.

The other sections of the divider will be installed over the next week and construction is expected to be finished by August 23, said Mary Gilbert, transportation planning manager for San Benito Council of Government.

Workers will be installing cross cushions on the end of each divider, Gilbert said. Construction will continue at night until finished.

Traffic control will confine traffic to one lane during the construction period.

The divider will be in three sections, the first of which runs from Hudner Lane north to the unincorporated road Grant Line. From there the divider runs up to Shore Road.

The installed section ends before Hollister Truck Parts.
