For drivers using downtown city lots, be warned there is a fairly large pothole as you enter the lot on Sixth Street near Hollister City Hall and the Pinnacle office.

City streets and parks division official Marcelo Orta noted how crews will have the parking lot pothole on their list to address. Orta also pointed out how crews were filling the potholes at the frontage road off of San Felipe Road featured in the Public Works section last week.

He also said, however, there is a big shortage of manpower due to some consolidation at the city and he understands the potholes are a “big concern” to residents. While city workers used to address the potholes once a week on Fridays, Orta said he now plans to try filling potholes two days per week when the weather permits.

It will be hard to fully catch up, though, as he noted the division’s crews will be plenty busy in the coming months with recreation facility maintenance being needed.

“We’re trying to take care of the things we can take care of,” he said.
