Drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians might want to be aware: There’s a doozy of a pothole at South and West streets that needs some fixing.

This pothole is a big one and stands to create an impediment on the heavily traveled street, at an intersection near downtown Hollister. It’s that time of year, though, when residents should expect to see more and more potholes cropping up because there tend to be more of them when it rains and the ground is more fragile.

Hollister streets official Julian Gaytan noted how city crews have continued to go out on Fridays to repair such potholes. They collect a list each week of pothole reports from around the city. Doing it on one day allows for more efficiency, such as bringing out a truckload of the cement mix.

“Again, we try to get a group of them at once,” he said.
