The sidewalk on Nash Road outside the Super Taqueria restaurant in Hollister has some pretty serious damage, but it might not get a permanent fix for a while because the city’s program to repair sidewalks is on hold with budget constraints.

The city’s public works department has been aware of the problem for more than a year and has tried to alleviate the issue. At first, crews placed barricades there, but it was an issue because kids walking by often would knock them over, said Julian Guytan, a streets division official with the city. More recently, the city has marked it in orange to warn people, he said.

Guytan noted how the sidewalk repair program is on hiatus and that it is unclear when the funds will be restored. With the rough terrain along the Nash Road spot, he said he planned to go out again and make sure it is marked clearly.

“If it’s really big, we try to patch it or grind it,” he said.
