Gun Show sign blitz returns within city limits
The promoter for the “Gun Show” at the San Jose Fairgrounds has brought his act back to Hollister. The signs are posted illegally around town, such as those downtown on Fourth Street or at the corner of South and San Benito streets advertising for an upcoming event out of town.
Hollister Code Enforcement Officer Mike Chambless when informed by the Pinnacle said the city would remove the signs as soon as possible. Violators such as the Gun Show promoter are subject to daily fines of $100 for each offense.
According to the Hollister Municipal Code, the off-site signs are among an array of sign types that are prohibited within city limits. The code lists off the banned types and includes “Off-site advertising signs except as provided for in the section entitled Master Sign Program.” That is in section 17.20 of the municipal code, which can be found on the city’s Web site, www.hollister.ca.gov.
