Control Bureau received a puppy from a concerned citizen. The
citizen found the puppy inside a paper bag in the area of Mission
Vineyard Road near San Juan Bautista.
On Tuesday, Dec. 8, the Hollister Police Department’s Animal Control Bureau received a puppy from a concerned citizen. The citizen found the puppy inside a paper bag in the area of Mission Vineyard Road near San Juan Bautista.

The man reported he was driving his vehicle when he saw a McDonald’s bag on the side of the road. As he passed, he noticed the bag was moving. He stopped, checked the bag, and found the puppy inside. The man brought the puppy to the Animal Shelter in Hollister.

Animal control officers estimate the puppy is approximately 17 days old. It is unknown if the puppy was placed on the side of the road or thrown from a passing vehicle. The puppy was checked and determined to be in good health. It has been placed temporarily in a local animal foster home.

The Hollister Police Department’s Animal Control Bureau reminds citizens that spaying/neutering pets helps control pet population and prevents unwanted kittens and puppies.
