You may have noticed some more street work late last week that shut off part of San Benito Street to traffic. A resident asked the Red Phone what all the commotion was about – considering crews were just recently doing work there, too.
Hollister public works crews were out for a few days starting Wednesday following up after a water main break that occurred a couple of weeks back between South and Hawkins streets in downtown Hollister. The city workers were paving the street after the recent line break, said engineering official David Rubcic, who understood the work was all finished and there were no new issues to address.
While water main breaks have been relatively frequent on the aging downtown system, there is no other major street work planned in the coming months, Rubcic said. There are a couple of proposed stop signs on the horizon, though, he said.
