A concerned resident called the Red Phone about a slew of vehicles that are often parked near a stop sign in her neighborhood at Karent Court and Westside Boulevard.

The resident was worried about a large sport utility vehicle, a truck and other vehicles parking near a stop sign there.

Interim Police Chief David Westrick gave the following email response to her concern:

“I would encourage anybody that has a complaint of this nature to give us a call, when it is occurring. This particular area is out the downtown area, so it is out of the operational area for our parking enforcement unit. However, issues like this can easily be addressed by our patrol officers. I’ll pass this on to our patrol staff immediately to see if we can ticket any violations should they exist and come up with a viable solution if at all possible. We want to work with the community to alleviate problem areas like this example. I would caution on one thing though – we know that if folks are calling the police for a solution to a problem, it is important to them. We try to be as timely as possible, however sometimes higher priority calls dictate that our officers respond to them first. If at times we are extended in our response, just know that we will try and handle your concern as soon as we possibly can. Please feel free to call 636-4330 and ask for the watch commander if you have any questions or concerns.”
