Blues favorite John “Broadway” Tucker will perform at the Red, White and a Little Blues Festival in Monterey on Memorial Day weekend.

The public is invited to celebrate in Old Monterey on May 24 and 25, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free.

The musical celebration will also feature some rock ‘n’ roll and some Latin music.

The festival, on historic Alvarado Street, will include barbecue and various other food booths at this all-American celebration both days.

People from across the region are welcome to enjoy summertime foods, a wide variety of arts, crafts and specialty items, and continuous live music on two stages.

On the Lower Alvarado Street Stage, John “Broadway” Tucker will return to the festival with his soulful blues tunes on May 24 from 1:15 to 5 p.m. At the same time, the froup Coco Beat will keep the crowd moving on upper Alvarado.

On Sunday, another local favorite group, Red Beans & Rice will play from 1:15 to 5 p.m. on Alvarado Street, or music lovers can cruise up the street for some hot musical stylings of the Chicano All-Stars.

There will also be face-painting, balloons, clowns and jugglers and other children’s activities to round out the event.

Festival parking is available in the West Garage, located on Tyler Street between Del Monte and Franklin.
