Professor Randall Horton will do a book reading and signing at 7 p.m. Thursday at the San Benito Arts Council’s ARTspace, located at 240 Fifth St. in downtown Hollister.
The professor will be reading from his newest book, “Hook: A Memoir,” which is a story about the transforming power of writing and how it helped one man transition from a homeless drug addict, international cocaine smuggler and incarcerated felon to a reclaimed life, according to Amazon.com.
The author is on his way to the Association of Writers and Writing Programs’ world-famous conference in Los Angeles and is making a stop in Hollister, according to a press release from the arts council. Horton was invited to San Benito County by Hollister poet and radio talk show host Rachelle Escamilla.
“Randall Horton is responsible for making my book Imaginary Animal happen,” wrote Escamilla in the art council’s press release. “His press, Willow Books, creates a space for writers of color to tell their stories with honesty and nuance, and that is unheard of in the publishing market.”
Music and light refreshments will be provided. The event is free.
