Ruben Lopez held back tears as he saluted fallen soldiers during a Memorial Day service May 28 at the San Juan Bautista Cemetery.

Memorial Day remembrance
Emotions stirred the air at the San Juan Bautista Cemetery May
28, Memorial Day, as loved ones of fallen armed service members
came to pay their respects and remember those who helped honor and
serve our country. A solace rendition of taps was played followed
by a booming twenty-one gun salute, during which the memories of
the one’s lost became too strong to forget for others. After the
ceremonies came to an end, many took the time to adorn plots with
flowers, fresh American flags and personal items. Whether it be a
brother or a brother in arms, many took the time to walk the
cemetery giving regards to the ones they loved and some they may
have never met.
