Richard A. Carrillo died Nov. 13 in Lisbon, Portugal while
celebrating his 50th anniversary on a cruise in Europe. He was 73
years old.
Richard A. Carrillo died Nov. 13 in Lisbon, Portugal while celebrating his 50th anniversary on a cruise in Europe. He was 73 years old.
He was born in Hollister on January 25, 1931 and lived in Prunedale for the last 35 years. He retired after 32 years as an electrician with PG&E. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956 with part of his service on the USS Philippine Sea during the Korean War. He was active in North County organizations including the Prunedale Senior Center, Prunedale American Legion, and Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church. He coached both Pop Warner Football and Little League for many years.
He was preceded in death by his father Arnold Carrillo of San Juan Bautista; brothers Ray Carillo of Watsonville, and Arnold Carrillo of Hollister.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diane Carrillo; mother Pauline Carrillo; daughter Sandra Carrillo; sons Richard and Rebecca Carrillo, David and Mary Carrillo, Steven and Jenny Carrillo; brother Danny and Jean Carrillo; grandchildren Melissa, Lisa, Aaron, Alex, Heather, Michael, Layla, Paul, Peter, Meghan, Sarah, Phillip, and Annie; great-grandchildren Emily and AJ.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 22 from 10 to 5pm at the Struve and Laporte Mortuary in Salinas. A vigil is scheduled for 7pm Monday evening. Mass will held on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 10am at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in Castroville. Burial will be held at the queen of Heaven Cemetery in Salinas.
