It didn’t take long for Ron Ross to get a full appointment as San Benito County agricultural commissioner and sealer of weights and measures.
Supervisors this week approved Ross’ appointment less than a month after they had named him acting agricultural commissioner. Ross succeeds Paul Matulich, who passed away in late September.
Ross brings 21 years of experience in the county’s agricultural commissioner’s office, the past several years as a deputy commissioner. He started in the office in 1988 as an agricultural biologist.
The county office has goals that include “the protection and promotion of California’s agriculture, the protection of the environment as well as the protection of the public’s health and safety,” according to its Web site.
