San Benito's Taylor Fabing, shown in January, is back on this year's team as well.

The San Benito girls basketball team won its final road game of the Tri-County Athletic League season Thursday, defeating league-leaders Salinas 42-39.
Despite the win, the game didn’t start well for San Benito. Salinas jumped out to a 16-4 lead midway through the second quarter before San Benito finally started to find its offensive rhythm.
“We were struggling,” head coach Mitch Burley said. “We couldn’t make a shot. So at halftime I gave them a little pep talk and we started to hit our shots.”
The Balers scored 16 points in each of the game’s final two quarter to take the lead and beat Salinas on a last-minute 3-point shot by Taylor Fabing, who scored 9 points.
Kelsey Robledo led San Benito with 12 points, scoring eight in the final quarter. On the defensive side, the Balers increased their pressure and forced turnovers.
“They were getting a little frustrated, I think,” Burley said.
The win gives San Benito a 6-5 record in TCAL play and a 13-10 overall record with one game left in the season. San Benito finishes its league season Tuesday when the team hosts Alvarez at 7 p.m.
