Stockton – The San Benito 15-year-old Babe Ruth All-Stars plated at least three runs in each inning on Thursday, and routed the Tracy All-Stars in five innings 19-1 at the Central California State Qualifier Tournament.

“Our bats were hot,” Manager Noel Provost said. “We were making solid contact, hitting the ball hard. The boys just played hard.”

San Benito will now face Lodi today at 5:30pm in Stockton. Lodi had defeated San Benito on Monday 8-7 in nine innings, a game that started on Sunday but was suspended until Monday due to darkness.

Lodi lost to Manteca on Wednesday, setting up the contest against San Benito. The winner of San Benito-Lodi will then move on to the championship to face Manteca on Saturday in Stockton.

“We don’t care who we play,” Provost said. “It doesn’t matter if we play Lodi or Manteca, you’ve got to beat them all in order to win the championship.”

On Thursday against Tracy, San Benito scored three runs in the first, five in the second, six in the third, and five more in the fourth inning.

Isaak Ramos and Justin Schlie went 3-for-3, while Will Cross and Fred Larios went 3-for-4. Tyler Provost went 2-for-2, and Adrian Garcia and Chad Whitehead went 2-for-3.

Kevin Wilson threw 4.1 innings, scattered five hits, and struck out two batters.

“They’re playing the way they know can play,” Provost said. “They did what they wanted to do; they put a smack on the ball.”
