San Benito County’s Community Foundation is set to partner with the San Jose Community Foundation.

Gary Byrne, executive director of the local Community Foundation, said the organization is in the process of completing a partnership with the $1.9 billion organization in San Jose. He is hoping the papers will be signed by this weekend to make it official, he said.

The San Jose foundation will offer the San Benito County office its services and will fund the local operation, he said.

“(We) are very, very excited about it,” he said.

The San Jose foundation has overseen Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. The foundation also has a relationship with the Gilroy foundation, Byrne said.

The San Jose Community Foundation is the fourth-largest community foundation in the nation, according to its Web site. The San Jose foundation touts itself as a leading voice and catalyst for innovative solutions to the region’s most challenging problems.

The San Benito County Community Foundation is a collection of funds created by people, organizations and businesses that helps people and groups support nonprofit organizations in San Benito County, according to its Web site.
