Hollister – An unidentified, off-duty San Jose police officer was flown to Stanford Medical Center with major injuries after a car hit his motorcycle on Highway 25 at Wright Road Wednesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Police closed Highway 25 in both directions for almost an hour due to the 4:30pm accident, but the CHP wouldn’t release information concerning the officer’s name, city of residence, how the accident occurred or who was at fault at press time.

The CHP did not know how many people were in the other car or if there were other injuries.

The San Jose Police Department refused to comment on the incident or release the officer’s name until the officer’s family had been notified and more details about his condition were known, according to the department’s public information officer.

Hollister Police Officer George Ramirez said the injured officer was in uniform and talking at the scene, but didn’t know what the extent of his injuries were. He said there was major damage to the officer’s motorcycle and the other gray sedan involved. Hollister police and San Benito County Sheriff’s deputies helped direct traffic but the CHP

will conduct the

investigation.
