We haven’t even had a real winter this year.

The San Benito County Cattlewomen hosted a very successful Pedro Party a week ago. The event was held at the Tres Pinos Church Hall and many folks attended the annual event. The next big event on the agenda for the Cattlemen’s Association will be the annual Reverse Draw Dinner Dance on March 31. Tickets for the event can be purchased from Ranchers Feed, Tres Pinos Ranch Supply or from any Cattleman.

Many South County kids and their families spent last weekend in Clovis for a multi-district high school rodeo. Congratulations on a job well done to all those who participated. Some of those competing from our area included Blair Strohn, Lacey Bourdet, Megan and Tommy Ford, Cash Robinson, Cheyenne Rey, Averi Hubbel, Mikael Bernadette, Taylor Hurley, Wyatt Naccarato, Blair Brown and Brody Sans. Congratulations to Cheyenne Rey for winning the girls’ breakaway event and to Brody Sans for winning the bull riding and all-around rookie title. Next stop for the kids is the Challenge of Champions in Plymouth. Good luck to all those kids competing there. The next local rodeo for the kids will be the weekend of April 15 at the Salinas Rodeo Grounds.

Jenel Flook co-hosted a baby shower last weekend for Tona Andrade. Tona and her family are expecting a little girl in a few months. Lots of new babies will be arriving in South County this spring, so much fun, congratulations to all!

Don’t forget this weekend is daylight savings time and you need to move your clocks ahead one hour. Remember the old saying “Spring Forward, Fall Back.”
