The San Benito High School Board of Trustees will hold a community meeting on Wednesday to discuss whether a campus expansion could be funded by a voter-approved general obligation fund.
The special meeting, which is open to the public, is set for 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the San Benito High School cafeteria.
“The board has been working on addressing the antiquated facilities for some time,” said Mike Robustelli, interim superintendent for the Sane Benito High School District.
In November 2012, the board approved a master plan that would provide an “incremental and strategic framework” for meeting educational goals at the school, according to the announcement.
“We’re trying to get input from the community about the most important projects to them,” he said.
Robustelli said that the board is considering a bond measure that would charge $30 per $100,000 home value on households – about $90 per year for a family with a home worth $300,000 – to help fund the facilities upgrade.
“We have to decide what the priorities are for modernization,” he said.
