Richard Fish was elected vice president, and Harriet Brin and Angie Strohn were returned to their respective positions as secretary and treasurer. Marilyn Hartman was elected to the board of directors.
Awards for five years of service were presented by librarian Jo Wahdan to Joyce Young, book sale cashier and board member, and Strohn, book sale committee and treasurer. Fish, outgoing president and technology committee member, and Brin, secretary and book sale committee member, were awarded for 10 years of service.
Ruth Erickson, who has served on many committees, was honored for 20 years of service.
Literacy Coordinator Barbara Scott said she is seeking tutors to help people who want to improve their English reading skills. She thanked members for support for fundraising and a grant application to the United Way.
Gloria Volosing, Born to Read project director, said she wants to expand the library’s story time and homework tutorial services. The library will submit a grant request to the Community Foundation.
It was reported that the library will soon link with Internet book outlet Amazon.com. The library will receive a commission for every Web page link made to order books.
Hartman said the first of the monthly library book sales will be held this Saturday in the book shed behind the adjacent Historical Society building. Call the library at 637-1794 for time and other details. Volunteer help is needed for Internet library book sales.
The next meeting of Friends of the Library will be June 19 at 12:30 p.m. at the library.
