Anne Marie Filice and Antonio Assis Faria were married Dec. 29,
2007 at Leal Winery in Hollister.
Anne Marie is the daughter of Peter Frank and Mary Anne Filice
of Hollister. She has a bachelor’s degree in environmental science,
a master’s degree and an administrative credential. She is
currently employed at Pinnacles Community School.
Antonio is the son of the late Jose Dias Faria and Maria A.
Faria of Gilroy. He received his education in Azores, Portugal and
is currently self-employed as a general contractor.
The couple honeymooned in Mexico and reside in Hollister.

Rose Gutierrez
celebrates 100 years
On Feb. 16, family gathered to celebrate the 100th birthday of Rose Gutierrez. She was born Feb. 17, 1908 in Watsonville and had 10 children: Manuel, Mary, Frank, Natalie, Fred, Julian, Rose, Dolores, Esperanza and Eva. Of the 10, seven are living and came to visit her on the special occasion.
Rose’s mother settled in the Madrone area and all of Rose’s children attended schools in the Madrone and Morgan Hill area.
She retired from Driscoll/Pik n Pak in San Martin after working there for 21 years. Rose has 41 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren. She currently resides in Morgan Hill.
Rose also received a plaque from President George Bush and First Lady Laura Bush in honor of her big day.

Jayden Ramon Betancourt
Jayden Ramon Betancourt was born Feb. 24, 2008 at Saint Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy to parents Griselda and Kino Betancourt of Gilroy. He weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces.
HONOR
Sarah Denys
Army Pfc. Sarah J. Denys has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
She is the sister of Melinda Shaw of Hollister and a 2004 graduate of San Benito High School.
